Whistleblowing
Under the Whistleblowing Law, everyone is entitled to blow the whistle in the public and private sector regarding a threat to public interest observed in the working environment.
Experts
An expert of the Latvian Science Council is a scientist who has achieved certain results of scientific activity in the science sector in accordance with the established expert qualification criteria and to whom the council has granted the right of an expert in the science sector.

Expert commissions are an essential section of the Latvian Science Council's organizational structure.
Programmes
One of the main activity of the Latvian Council of Science is planning and implementation of scientific research programs.
State Research Programme
State Research Programmes are research programmes funded from the state budget and initiated by the sectoral ministries.
Fundamental and Applied Research
Fundamental and Applied Research is a programme financed from the state budget which aims to create new knowledge and technological know-how in all Fields of Science.
Postdoctoral research grants
Postdoctoral research grants provide an opportunity for young researchers to develop their research capacity and career while contributing to the goals of Latvia’s Smart Specialization strategy.
EEA and Norway grants
On 14 December 2017 Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway signed new cooperation agreements with Latvia on new programmes under the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021. The programmes will be implemented till 30 April 2024.
